Healthcare is a vital part of the support we provide for children and families in our community. This month, we renewed the children’s health insurance cards through the Ghana National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), helping ensure they have access to treatment whenever it is needed.
Across Ghana, many families still face barriers to healthcare, particularly due to cost, distance and limited access to medical facilities. Although the NHIS has improved healthcare access for millions of people, a significant proportion of the population remains uninsured, meaning many families still delay treatment or go without care because they cannot afford it.
The NHIS gives access to treatment for many common illnesses and conditions, including malaria, typhoid, asthma and more. It also covers inpatient and outpatient services, along with essential medication.
By ensuring every child has valid health insurance, we can make sure they are able to see a doctor when needed without creating financial pressure for their families. It also means illnesses can be treated earlier, reducing the risk of more serious health problems later.
This support provides security, peace of mind and access to healthcare all year round, giving children a better chance to stay healthy, attend school regularly and thrive.
A special thank you to Star Player for generously funding this year’s renewals.
