Akwaaba World Cup Brings Everyone Together

With the FIFA World Cup capturing the imagination of football fans across the globe, we couldn’t resist bringing the excitement to Akwaaba with our very own World Cup Tournament!

Six nations, made up of boys and girls from every age group, proudly pulled on their colours and battled it out in a day packed with goals, celebrations, teamwork, and plenty of unforgettable moments. From dramatic last-minute winners to brilliant saves and incredible displays of skill, every match was played with enthusiasm and determination.

After a fantastic day of competition, Brazil were crowned our Akwaaba World Cup champions, with Ghana finishing as worthy runners-up after an impressive tournament. While there could only be one winner, every team played their part in making the day such a success.

A huge thank you goes to our amazing U17 squad, who stepped up to referee the matches throughout the day. They kept the games fair, encouraged great sportsmanship, and made sure every child—regardless of age or ability—had the chance to get involved and enjoy the experience.

The tournament was about much more than lifting a trophy. It was a chance for children from across all of our projects to come together, make new friends, build confidence, and celebrate the power of sport. Seeing everyone cheering each other on, sharing laughs, and creating lasting memories reminded us exactly why days like these are so special.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament!
