We couldn’t be prouder of our girls after an incredible week representing Greater Accra at the Regional Basic School Games.
Over the past few weeks, the girls have been working hard at training, developing their skills, building confidence and learning what it means to compete as part of a team. Their hard work was rewarded when four Akwaaba girls were selected for the Greater Accra squad at the training camp, with three of them going on to make the final 10-player team representing Accra at the Regional Games.
To see three of our girls selected to represent Greater Accra is a huge achievement — and one that we are incredibly proud of.
Hard work pays off
The girls have trained together over the past few weeks, putting in the time and effort both on and off the court. They have had to adapt to playing alongside new teammates, learn from different coaches and compete at a higher level.
All that hard work paid off when Greater Accra secured a fantastic victory over the Eastern Region at the Regional Games.
For our girls, it was an incredible opportunity to represent their region, test themselves against some of the best young players in the area and experience what it takes to compete at this level.
But perhaps the most special part for us was seeing just how far they have come.
What started as girls simply turning up to training, learning the basics and gaining confidence has developed into opportunities to represent Greater Accra on a regional stage.
Inspiring the next generation
While three of our girls were representing Team Accra on the court, our other Akwaaba girls were there to support them.
They cheered from the sidelines, watched the games and had the opportunity to see what is possible when you work hard and believe in yourself.
For some of them, it may be their turn next.
That is one of the things we love most about sport at Akwaaba. It is not only about winning games or developing talented players. It is about creating opportunities, building confidence and showing girls what they are capable of achieving.
Seeing their teammates represent Greater Accra gives the younger girls something to aspire to — and hopefully, one day, we will see even more Akwaaba girls wearing the Greater Accra colours.
We are so proud
A huge congratulations to all of our girls who took part, whether they were selected for the final squad, attended the training camp or came along to support their teammates.
You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.
Keep working hard, keep supporting each other and, most importantly, keep believing in what you can achieve.
Who knows — it might be you representing Greater Accra next time! 💙
We are so proud of you, girls. Keep it up!
