Future Leaders School

The Beginning

Future Leaders School was founded by the late Billa Mahmud, originally known as the Underprivileged Children's Centre (UCC).Billa grew up in Labadi and, despite his humble beginnings, had the opportunity to attend school and pursue higher education.

2013

Under the mango tree

After work, Billa would gather children who weren't in school under a Mango tree and teach them basic English and Maths. He used his own money to provide notebooks, pencils, and erasers—ensuring they had the tools needed to learn.

2025

Growth & Expansion

What began with just 5 children quickly grew. Billa eventually transitioned into full-time teaching, moved to Teshie, and rented an apartment to serve as the school building, expanding it into a primary school with 161 students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

December 2016

A Legacy

Sadly, Billa passed away, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of education and hope.

2017

Challenge & Resilience

The school was evicted from its rented space. However, thanks to Akwaaba Volunteers' fundraising efforts, we built a new wooden structure and three toilets for the school.

2019

New Beginnings

The first phase of the new building was completed, almost doubling the school's capacity.
