Machame 9 Day Route
In February 2021 the Akwaaba Team are taking on the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro. Not only is it Africa’s highest point but it is also the highest free standing mountain in the world.
We are going to be joined by an amazing team of volunteers, friends, and supporters of the charity to conquer this mountain and raise £1000 each to raise vital funds for Akwaaba Volunteers work in Ghana.
The expedition is an expertly guided trek on the Machame Trail, the most scenic route to the summit, to guide and support you from start to finish. You do need to have a good level of fitness to complete the challenge but there is plenty of time to get some practice hikes in before we go. The trip is undertaken with the greatest consideration to socially responsible tourism including porter welfare as well as success of reaching the summit. The 9 Day trek gives us the greatest time to acclimatise to the altitude and therefore maximises chances of a successful summit.
DAY 1 – Pick up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), transfer to Aishi Machame Hotel (BB), check-in. In the evening our manager will do a briefing for your climb, check your equipment and answer all your questions.
