Volunteer Abroad – Teaching

First and foremost you get to travel the world and experience a new culture in a truly unique way that only volunteering abroad can offer. Akwaaba Volunteers have created quality, sustainable, responsible and enriching programmes in Ghana. These are in line with our own aims of creating a “brighter future for the next generation” as well as out community goals. We work closely with community leaders, headteachers, businesses, and community members to create an intimate but authentic cultural experience. This helps us to create a life changing experience for our volunteers.

One of the biggest and best parts of volunteering abroad is getting to know the people that you are helping. Volunteering can open your eyes, it allows you to see how locals live and the issues that they face. You will see why it is important for volunteers to join sustainable  project and be a part of a sustainable solution. You will build friendships that will last a lifetime and become an independent, responsible and conscious traveler. As a volunteer you will take the first step to becoming a Global Citizen.

There are an unlimited number of skills that you can learn from volunteering abroad. From budgeting your funds, being adaptable,  new foods and culture and being part of a team. Showing you can build relationships with people from all over the world is a great attribute to potential employers or on your university application. You will learn leadership skills which can give you a huge confidence boost. Even if you’re not a natural born leader, whilst volunteering you will need to be able to stand up and make your voice heard. Whether your’e volunteering as a sports coach or standing at the front of a classroom you will need your confidence. Volunteering also gives you the opportunity to share your own knowledge and skills with those less fortunate than yourself!

Volunteering abroad can give you a real insight to the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves. Giving up your time to volunteer abroad, you can help to change somebody’s life  for the better. By building new relationships, offering support, giving up your time and teaching new skills you can inspire the next generation.  You will begin to see things from a new perspective during your volunteering experience and you will begin to appreciate the little things in life that we all take for granted.

Being able to make a long term positive impact on the life of someone less fortunate than yourself has to be worth it right? Well there is more! You’ll make friends for life, you’ll experience a new culture, try new food and see a new part of the world. The memories you make you will treasure forever. You will immediately see the impact that you can make on someone’s life. Travelling and volunteering abroad is one of the most valuable things you can do. You’ll never regret it!
